Dear members of the blind community:
Last year, as many of you know, the ACB, AFB and CCB reached an agreement
with Walmart under which the company agreed to replace their flat screen
point of sale devices with units that have tactile keys. The agreement
provides that once a year Walmart will meet with representatives of the
three organizations to discuss the tactile keypad roll-out as well as any
other issues in Walmart stores of concern to the blind community.
We are preparing for this year's meeting, and are asking for feedback about
your shopping experiences at Walmart -- both good, bad and in between.
Please send comments to Lainey Feingold and Linda Dardarian at
mailto:lfeingold@earthlink.net
or leave a message at 800.332.6177
We continue to work with other major retailers on installing tactile keypad
point of sale devices so that blind shoppers can enter their PIN and other
private information without having to disclose it to a store clerk. If you
have questions about our efforts to date, or concerns about a particular
company, you can contact us at the email and phone listed above.
Thanks,
Lainey Feingold Linda Dardarian

um, online is better. just test drive the products in the stores. hahahah
Now if you could order Wal-Mart products online, and I'm talking about anything in the store, and have it delivered to you. I'd do that even if it meant paying a small extra fee, just for the convenience. It's much easier to browse online.
agreed chris. That would be fantastic!
You can or at least I have through wallmart.com. I bought my dvd-vcr through through their online store.

yes, but groceries would be nice. If all wallmarts did that... o god. we'd set a lazyness record on this planet.
Yeah I think they ment food, beverages, tolitrees, and other products that department stores don't sell online. And of course I think we're also asking for delivery service.
NOW your talking about being a couch potatoe but I was told that ordering your groceries online and having it delivered to you (example Acme) is a great thing but has its drawbacks.
At Target they have a ATM section near their customer service counter with brailled keys so that if you knew exactly how much you were spending, grab the cash there and have it on hand at checkout. Unsure of how much you're spending then you gotta use those shitty touch screens at the cashier oounter.
I've heard we had that where I live where you order groceries online and then a group of people can't remember what they're called will go shop for you and deliver it to you. I have never tried it so can't provide any feedback on it. I do have a disability organization that I belong to in my comunity that will actually take you to buy groceries and help you.
